What you race

Classic & historic

Historic racing puts engines designed decades ago back on the limit — many of them built around the leaded, high-octane fuel of their day. The right fuel is the one that matches the engine's compression ratio and the rules of the series you enter, not simply the highest number on the drum.

VP supplies leaded race fuels for engines that were designed for lead, an unleaded European race fuel for historic classes that require unleaded, and an ethanol-free fuel for cars that spend long periods laid up between events.

Recommended VP fuels

VP C12
VP C12 Leaded, 112 (R+M)/2, for compression up to 15:1. The choice for high-compression historic race engines built around leaded fuel.
VP 110
VP110 Leaded, 110.5 (R+M)/2, for naturally aspirated engines up to 12:1 — period engines with more modest compression.
VP 101F
VP 101FUnleaded European race fuel, for historic classes whose rules require unleaded fuel.
VP CLASSIC
VP Classic Ethanol-free and unleaded, with a long storage life — for cars laid up between events, and for classics driven to and from them.

Historic championships set their own fuel rules — leaded or unleaded, and sometimes a maximum octane. Confirm against your series' regulations before race day, and ask our technical team if you are unsure which fuel suits your engine.
