THE QUIETEST PART OF A TEN-THOUSAND-HORSEPOWER WEEKEND

Four rounds, three countries, and margins measured in hundredths of a second. The 2026 FIA European Drag Racing Championship began and ended at Santa Pod Raceway, VP's longest-running track partner in Europe

THE QUIETEST PART OF A TEN-THOUSAND-HORSEPOWER WEEKEND

FOUR ROUNDS. THREE COUNTRIES. ONE STANDARD.

The 2026 FIA European Drag Racing Championship stretched across four rounds: the Main Event at Santa Pod Raceway in May, the Summit Racing Equipment Internationals at Tierp Arena in Sweden in August, the NitrOlympX at Hockenheimring in Germany two weeks later, and the European Finals back at Santa Pod in September.

At every event, four categories fought for championship points: Top Fuel Dragster, Top Methanol Dragster, Pro Modified, and Pro Stock Car. This is the highest-performance end of European drag racing, where a run lasts less than four seconds, but preparation between rounds can take hours.

Santa Pod opened the season and closed it. It is also VP Racing's longest-running track partner in Europe, a relationship that continued through the 2025 and 2026 seasons as the raceway celebrated its 60th anniversary.

GRIP IS THE VARIABLE A DRIVER SHOULD NEVER NOTICE.

A drag strip's surface is a leap of faith. Drivers commit to full throttle before knowing whether the track will deliver the grip they expect.

That confidence starts with track preparation.

Traction compound creates a consistent and repeatable racing groove, whether the event is taking place in Northamptonshire, Tierp, or Hockenheim. The goal isn't simply more grip. The goal is predictability. A driver should be able to expect the same response from the racing surface in the fourth qualifying session as they did in the first.

That's the same philosophy that drives every VP Racing product. Whether it's fuel, lubricants, or traction compounds, the objective remains unchanged: deliver repeatable performance so teams can focus on tuning, execution, and race-day decisions.

VP Racing's role extends well beyond supplying a single venue. Santa Pod Raceway, Tierp Arena, and Hockenheimring are three of the five partners behind Drag Racing Europe AB, the organization recognized by the FIA to operate the European Drag Racing Championship.

Speedgroup, the championship administrator, also manages the Summit Racing EDRS Series across the same race weekends. VP Racing serves as the official fuel, oil, and traction-compound partner for both championships at all three venues.

WHEN THE CONDITIONS CHANGE, THE STANDARD CAN'T.

The 2026 season tested teams in ways no rulebook can predict. At the European Finals, eliminations scheduled for mid-morning did not begin until late afternoon after persistent rain forced crews to spend much of the day drying the racing surface. Hours later, the remaining competitors sat staged under the lights waiting for the next round when rain returned and halted the event once again.

Yet the championship continued. One title was ultimately decided by ladder position when weather prevented a final head-to-head run from taking place. It was a reminder that over the course of a season, weather often becomes the one variable nobody can control.

One title was ultimately decided by ladder position when weather prevented a final head-to-head run from taking place. It was a reminder that weather often becomes the one factor nobody can control.

Despite the delays and changing conditions, competitors recorded the event's fastest speed at 251.87 mph on the same racing groove crews had spent the afternoon restoring. The weather changed. The demands on the surface did not.

TRUST IS THE REAL PERFORMANCE ADVANTAGE.

When people think about drag racing, they think about horsepower, speed, and reaction times. What often goes unnoticed is confidence.

None of the defining moments of the 2026 season were decided by a drum of traction compound or a jug of fuel. They were decided by drivers, teams, and machines operating at the limit, often separated by hundredths of a second.

For that to happen, the racing surface must be the one thing competitors don't have to question. At speeds exceeding 250 mph, predictability is a safety requirement before it is a performance advantage. A racing groove that behaves differently from one run to the next isn't simply an inconvenience.

That's why VP Racing approaches track preparation the same way it approaches fuel development. The objective isn't to create a headline. The objective is to create repeatable results.

In a championship decided by hundredths of a second, consistency isn't a small advantage. It's the foundation everything else is built on.
